They Jerk All Our Lives: A Social Media Anthem

From the day we first login to Google, for porno and L-O-L cats

Our secret wish is to gather and dish and post pics of ourselves being brats.

So geeks at Harvard and Yale, Cal Poly and rich daddies’ dens

Build social sites where we can give up our rights

For the privilege of claiming we’re friends.

They Je-e-e-r-k all our lives

They seduce us slowly

While they mine our sites for our private stuff

And the more they steal, the more keys we give them

It’s the je-e-r-r-k-s—who jerk all our lives.

They remind us that there is a system, for blocking the parents and grunts

‘cause one day we slobs might need to get jobs and our trails are littered with blunts.

But when we try to apply them, we find they’re incredibly dense.

For clarity is measured you see on a chart of lost dollars and cents.

So they Je-e-e-r-k all our lives, and they just get richer

Shuck the rubes and laugh and design more traps.

And they blow our hoops from Havana smoke rings

As they je-e-e-r-k, they jerk all our lives.

Cheap mortgage. Don’t ya wanna like it?
Viagra. Don’t ya wanna like it?
Friend Finder. Don’t ya wanna like it?
Frontierville. Don’t ya wanna like it?
Quiz Planet. Don’t ya wanna like it?
Café World. Don’t ya wanna like it?
Be Naughty. Don’t ya wanna like it?
Grafitti. Don’t ya wanna like it?

They Je-e-e-r-k all our lives

They seduce us slowly

While they mine our sites for our private stuff

And the more they steal, the more keys we give them

It’s the je-e-r-r-k-s—who jerk all our lives.
